Community Spotlight - EECAN’s Big Bike Amnesty — Help Reach 100 Bikes for the Community 🚲
Got an old bike gathering dust in the shed? Epsom & Ewell Climate Action Network (EECAN) is on a mission and they’re inviting all of us to help.
This Saturday, the team are running a Bike Amnesty right here in Epsom, aiming to collect 100 unused bicycles (both kids’ and adult sizes). These bikes will be handed over to Active Surrey, who will refurbish them and make sure they get back into the hands of people in our community who need them most.
Whether it’s a child who can’t join a cycling club because they don’t have a bike, or an adult who relies on cycling for transport but can’t afford repairs, your unused wheels could make a very real difference.
And the best part? You don’t need to clean it, fix it, or polish it. Just drop it off and the team will take care of the rest.
What they’re collecting:
✔️ All sizes — children’s, teens’, adults’
✔️ Bikes in any condition (as long as they’re structurally sound)
Where & When:
➡️ Epsom Methodist Church, Scout Hall, Ashley Road, KT18 5AQ
➡️ Saturday, 22 November 2026, 9AM - 5PM
EECAN volunteers will be on hand to help unload bikes and chat about the wider community impact of reuse and repair.
If you’ve ever thought, “I really should get rid of that bike…”, this is the moment! Help them reach their target of 100 bikes and give those wheels a second life.
If this sounds like your kind of project, keep an eye out, EECAN is also exploring new “share and reuse” initiatives in the borough, including a Library of Things coming in Spring 2026.

Anne Boleyn at the Adrian Mann Theatre 🎭
If you’re in the mood for a dose of Tudor drama, the Sutton Amateur Dramatic Club is taking to the stage this week with a retelling of Anne Boleyn’s life, running from 19 to 22 November at the Adrian Mann Theatre.
Commissioned originally for Shakespeare’s Globe, the play premiered in 2010 to wide acclaim. It offers a vibrant, witty, and surprisingly modern take on one of history’s most intriguing queens, diving into her political influence, her faith, and the legacy that outlived her by centuries.
Expect sharp dialogue, powerful performances, and a lively production that brings Anne’s story to life in a way that’s both compelling and accessible.
🎟️ Dates: 19–22 November
📍 Venue: Adrian Mann Theatre, NESCOT
🔗 Tickets available via the Sutton Amateur Dramatic Club website
A perfect mid-week treat if you're after culture, drama, and a night out that isn’t weather-dependent.
Christmas light switch-ons around Epsom and Ewell
The countdown to Christmas has officially begun (especially with the arctic temperatures we have this week!). If you missed the Christmas light switch-on at Ashley Centre, do not fret as there are plenty more to come.
Three festive light switch-ons are happening across Epsom over the next couple of weeks, perfect for getting into the seasonal spirit (and keeping little ones entertained after school). Bourne Hall, Epsom Square, and Stoneleigh Broadway will each be hosting their own celebrations, complete with music, family activities, and that magical moment the lights flick on. Keep an eye on dates and times, we’ll round them up in Friday’s edition so you won’t miss a glow.
