THE EPSOM EDIT

Epsom clocktower

Hi there!

Welcome to the very first edition of The Epsom Edit, your twice-weekly scoop of what’s happening in and around our town.

Think of us as your friendly neighbour who always knows which café just opened, when the next fun or helpful events are happening, and where to take the kids this weekend.
No politics, no paywalls — just the helpful stuff: local events, workshops, family finds, good news and updates about openings, and a few smiles along the way.

We’ll land in your inbox every Tuesday (midweek catch-up) and Friday (the Weekend Edit).

Our goal? To help you enjoy Epsom (and surrounding areas) a little more, and maybe discover something you’d have missed otherwise.

If you like what you read, please forward it to a friend or neighbour. It’s how small, local things grow big.

Thanks for joining from day one, let’s make this fun!

Cheers,
Jennnnybee

What’s Happening?

RAINBOW LEISURE CENTRE IS GETTING A REVAMP

It’s just been over a month since Places Leisure officially took over the management of Rainbow Leisure Centre, and things are starting to take shape.

The new website is live and looking sharp although we did run into a few hiccups when trying to book sessions so fingers cross those get ironed out soon. There are lots of planned upgrades for the gym facilities, which is great news for regulars! But, we are curious to see what’s planned for the rest of the centre too. The swimming pool changing area is definitely due a bit of TLC!

For existing gym-goers, the refurbishment works begins Thursday the 6th November. A temporary gym will be set up in the sports hall and members will have access other Places Leisure run centres nearby during the works. More on their website here.

Whilst we try to focus on the good news, we’ll admit the communications around the hand over left us scratching our heads! It’s a big change for a well-used community space, so clarity matters.

If you’ve had an experience, good, bad or somewhere in between we’d love to hear how the transition has been for you. We’d also love to hear what other improvements you’d like to see for the centre and we’ll try our get the attention of Places Leisure. Drop us a line at [email protected]

SURREY COUNCIL SHAKE-UP - WHAT IT MEANS FOR US

In case you missed it, the Council has confirmed its plans to move to two separate authorities following months of consultation over the summer.

It is still unclear how this move will impact on services so far (like bin days or local fundings) but we will keep an eye on how this develops and share updates when the dust settles.

Have thoughts or concerns about the change? Let us know at [email protected] and we'll include reader reactions in a future issue.
